Our basic goal is to help you do more, better, and safely. Our program is for anyone, old, young, fat, thin…it’s for YOU. My aim is to educate you on who Black Goat Fitness is, and what makes us different. One word… VALUE. We want to add value to your life, value to your movements, value to your health. Value through nutrition, community, and fitness.

We are nutrition-focused. What that means is we place a high value on nutrition education and implementation. We want you to succeed. Nutrition is the foundation to results and long term success. Nutrition is a pillar of our gym. We incorporate nutrition education into our classes and seminars, in our Launch program, and through individualized nutrition coaching.

We are community strong. We are intentional about fostering a community that is positive, and strong from the inside out. The real gym is not the building and the equipment, it is each and every person who comes through our doors. We know that you come for the workouts, but you stay because of the friends you have made. We build community through our classes, community events, social media, and personal relationships.

We are lifestyle driven. We assess your current ability (flexibility, balance, strength, coordination) and make a plan to help you first move better (learn technique), often (consistency), then move faster (intensity). Lastly, once we see you move well, consistently, with intensity we start manipulating loads. Our highly trained coaches are here to educate you and make sure you are moving correctly. We strive to meet the needs and goals of all of our athletes and improve your quality of movement so that you can live a fuller higher valued life.

Why the name 'Black Goat'?

It's not because we love farm animals... It's because we strive for these "Goat-like" characteristics:

Be true to yourself. Be strong. Do not have the goal of being just like someone else. Have the goal of being the best version of yourself. There is only ONE you in the world and I want you to be proud of that, even if it means being DIFFERENT. Celebrate what makes you different, what makes you unique. Through our differences that is how we become strong. We are a community depending on all of our differences coming together to make us a strong and resilient family.

This is imperative to your success. Think things through. Be coachable. Be resilient. Work smarter not harder. Don’t overload, overuse, overwork your body. We are here to support YOUR goals, not make you do our workout our way. Communicate what your goals are, and what you know you should NOT be doing. Not doing a movement because you have an injury does not exclude you from participation, we are happy to give you another movement that will get you closer to your goals. Forcing movement when you know you shouldn’t CAN exclude you from the activities in life you enjoy or add unnecessary pain to your life you are trying to improve. MOVE SMART. Pay attention to the stimulus your coach is telling you to go for. Beating your neighbor is NEVER the desired goal, out lifting the person next to you does not define success.on’t work hard for one hour of your day then reward yourself a big mac. Your Nutrition habits dictate 80% of your success or failure. That is why we place such a big emphasis on eating right. EAT SMART.

Another part of being smart is thinking tough. You believe what you preach to yourself in the mirror. When things get tough, do you think “I can’t” or do you think, “I can”? Choosing positive self-talk can go a long way towards how your brain handles adversity, and lead to long-term success in, and out of the gym.

Work hard- Another goat attribute. There are many companies that will bring a goat to your yard and take care of your weed/overgrowth problems. Goats eat anything, and they don’t complain. Weed the garden, done. Climb a mountain, sure. When you see a mile run in the WOD, no problem. A heavy back squat, you do your best. Hard work is unquantifiable. Rather it is a measure of heart, attitude, and effort given during a task. Another part of hard work has to do with being resilient. Black Goat Fitness means that you are going to face difficulty. You are volunteering for it by joining our program. All we ask it you show up, have a good attitude and give it your best effort.

Play harder- Obviously this is why you are joining! There is something you want to attain in life, and you believe that doing Black Goat Fitness will help you get there. So do we. It’s amazing that by getting better at pull-ups and deadlifts you have more energy and live a fuller life. We want you to keep focused on your life outside of the gym. Your “WHY”. Everything you do in our box needs to be reaching you closer to being MORE alive and able to live the life you dream of. We also want you to enjoy our community. Work is always more fun when you are with friends.

Belong- Goats operate in herds, they stick together. I hope this place, and these people become more to you then reps and barbells. I hope this box is a place you take pride in being associated with. These people will become a part of your life, and in turn, make your life better. We seek quality of movement, we pursue excellence with our coaches and athletes, but we end up with is an unquantifiable value being added to our life. You come in to lose fat and get better at fitness. You will attain those, but you will also gain a whole tribe.

When I am not being a mom to my three boys, or at the gym I love to be outside! Summer is my favorite, you will find me on a lake or river beach, or on my paddleboard. I also enjoy Spartan Races and lots of coffee!

Why I Love Being a Black Goat Coach:

I love learning and growing, and black goat allows space for constant development. I want people to be proud of what their amazing bodies can do, not just a number on the scale. The best thing about fitness is amazing people! I love coming to a place where every shape and fitness level is welcome. Seeing people believe in their potential is the best thing! Black Goat is a place of limitless potential. Even the failures and frustrations are lined with hope.

Why I love coaching:
The biggest reason I love being a Black Goat coach is because of the connections I have created with our members and my fellow coaches. Liberty Lake is where I grew up and it is great to be able to give back to my community by coaching because this town had such a big part in making me who I am today. The friendships I have made at this gym I will have for life!
This gym and the people in it helped me discover a new found love for CrossFit and a desire to push myself and get better everyday. There is nothing better than working out with friends who are working towards the same goal of being the best versions of ourselves.

I’m so passionate about Jesus & community. Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Give me a piano and I’ll play & sing for hours. My family is my ride or die. I absolutely love travel and getting to experience other cultures. I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie. My favorite days are on a boat on Coeur d’Alene lake with a blue sky sunny day.

I love being a Black Goat coach because of the incredible community! I wouldn’t wake up at 4am for just anyone. The community is so welcoming and fun to be a part of. I also appreciate the level of excellence that is delivered from the owners across the board. From the facility & equipment, to staff & member support, it’s evident that Salem & Peter put their heart & souls into Black Goat.

Why I Love Being a Black Goat Coach:

The people. Black goat fitness is more than the time on a workout or the weight lifted, it’s about each and every member, each and every coach, our owners Salem and Peter. I look forward to helping people become better versions of themselves. The conversations I get to have each day. The growth in and out of the gym. Our community warms my heart and puts a smile on my face every day. I don’t say I’m going to work but I’m going to Black Goat because to me work is something you have to do and being a Black Goat Coach is something I want to do and I’m lucky enough to get to do it. As a black goat coach, we are encouraged to grow in a way that supports our passion and interests. My passion began with gymnastics, then I found I loved working out and eating healthy, and this grew into a love of sharing what I’ve learned with others.

Why I Love Being a Black Goat Coach:

Coaching at Black Goat means a lot to me, I’m starting to feel like family. The people you meet at Black Goat are like-minded individuals who want to succeed in life not only at the gym but in all aspects. These are the exact people I want to surround myself with and strive for greatness. With Salem’s help, I knew I could become a better coach and grow as a person and I think black goat directly reflects that. I coach at black goat because I want to look back one day and believe I helped others get where they want to be, not just myself. Tim Tebow once said to live a successful life is great and all but success is about ourselves, but living a significant life is about others.
